Funeral Rites Held For Andrew Wenos
Final rites for Andrew Olai Wenos of Huxley were held Monday afternoon at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
Pastor M. Harold Rye was in charge of the service.
Mrs. Stanley Heggen of Ames was the soloist. She was accompanied by Mrs. Jacob Lee, organist.
Pallbearers were Merrill Heggen, Eugene Heggen, David Tesdall, Carolyn Heggen, Darrell Reinertson and Robert Christopher.
Interment was in the Fjeldberg Cemetery.
Obituary
Andrew O. Wenos, son of Paul and Helen Wenos, was born in Mallard, Ia. on Mar. 20, 1891. A short time later the family moved to Cambridge and he spent his entire life in the community.
He was in the implement business in Huxley when he was called into the military service in July, 1918. He served overseas in France and received his discharge on Feb. 22, 1919. After his discharge he was in the trucking business for 30 years.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine Church where he held membership in the early years of his life. He transferred to the Fjeldberg Church about 30 years ago where he was an active and faithful member.
On Dec. 7, 1917 he was united in marriage to Sarah Heggen of Huxley and to this union one daughter, Edna, was born.
Mr. Wenos passed away at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on May 21 at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 1 day.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Hellekson; two grandchildren, Dean and Marilyn Hellekson; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Larson of Ames and Mrs. W. R. Richardson of Huxley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister who died in infancy; a brother, Henry; another sister, Mrs. Amelia Longnecker; and a grandson, Robert Paul Hellekson.
