OBITUARY.
Andrew Jackson Holmes was born July 31, 1877, the son of Elizabeth and Thomas Holmes. He departed from this life Sept. 7, 1950, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 7 days.
He was united in marriage to Clara Belle Pepples on July 12, 1907. To this union were born seven sons: Russell of Des Moines, Howard of Boone, James of Laurens and David, Eldon, Merle and Eugene of Backus, Minn.
Besides his wife and seven sons he leaves to mourn his passing, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Parmenter of Seattle, and 10 grandchildren.
Mr. Holmes was a cabinet maker by trade and was well known for his excellent work and craftsmanship. He had his work shop in the front part of his home at Backus, where he also did saw filing. He was highly regarded and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Holmes was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge for 49 years, joining Aug. 3, 1901 at Madrid. He later transferred to the order in Slater, where he remained a member in good standing to the time of his death. He also belonged to Camp 43 at Backus.
