Obituary.

Mattie Louise Tesdell was born December 4, 1881, at the Tesdell homestead west of Huxley. She died at her home near Artesian, South Dakota, January 22, 1920, at an age of 38 years, 1 month and 18 days. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Huxley. She was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine church and was always a faithful member.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Clarence Southwick of near Cambridge, August 2, 1906. They moved to near Artesian, South Dakota, where she lived till her untimely death. She left to mourn her loss a dear husband, mother and father, five sisters, Mrs. Jennie Ritland of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Bertha Gord of Marshalltown, Mrs. Mabel Tesdell, Mrs. Hazel Sabo and Miss Evangeline, all of Huxley, Iowa. Three brothers, Olem of Huxley, Roy of Dayton and Edward of Colorado. Besides these she left many other relatives and a host of friends.
