THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 20, 2005.

Norma J. Nikkel, 55, of Ames, died Monday, Sept. 19, at Israel Family Hospice House. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Ames. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.

Norma J. Nikkel was born Aug. 19, 1950, in New Sharon to Stoffel and Verda (Weetman) Vander Hart. She graduated from Pella High School. She lived in Newton from 1968-70, and Ames from 1970-98. She then moved to Maxwell. She married Carroll Nikkel June 7, 1967.

She was a homemaker and crafter. She was a specialist in home decorating and craft work. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's baseball, softball, football and ice hockey games. She also enjoyed camping with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, a blessed mother and a disciple of God.

She is survived by her husband, Caroll of Maxwell; three daughters, Kerry J. (Adam) Littman of Maxwell, Sherri L. (Randy) Graham of Kelley and Mindy S. Nikkel of Maxwell; one son, Greg J. (Connie) Nikkel of Ames; six grandchildren, Jesse Joyce (Littman), Brittany Graham, April Nikkel, Amber Joyce (Littman), Brett Graham, Brandi Nikkel; one sister, Mary (Ken) Buff of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Glen (Fran) Vander Hart of Knoxville, Dan (Linda) Vander Hart of Des Moines; and mother-in-law Betty Nikkel of Sully.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Dewey Nikkel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at Adams Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are requested to Ames Christian School or Birthright.
