THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 20, 2005.

Leora Stumbo, 81, 225 W. Veterans Drive in Ogden, died Sept. 17, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Bethel Church in rural Boone with the Rev. D. Ray Hoke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Leora was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Ogden to Charles and Jenny (Johnson) Erickson. She lived in Boone County most of her life and graduated from Ogden High School in 1941. She married Robert Stumbo on Sept. 1, 1941, at Bethel Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed listening to gospel music and sewing for herself and others, doing crossword puzzles and bible study. She was a member of Bethel Church and Gideon's International.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Ogden; three sons, Robert Stumbo Jr. and wife, Lorraine, of Ames, Terrance "Terry" Stumbo and wife, Janet, of Staples, Minn., and Lance "Lanny" Stumbo and wife, Barbara, of Ogden; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ralph, Donald, Walter, Raymond and Robert Erickson; three sisters, Myrtle Shafer, Maurine Roe and Dorothy Cairns.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Church where the family will be present to receive friends. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
