In 1873 he was married to Bertha J. Strom. The major part of their married life was spent at Huxley, where he was in the mercantile business till death called his wife on the 5th day of February, this year. To this union were born ten children, of whom five survive him. They are Mrs. Norva Hendricks of Scranton, Mrs. Dr. Keller, Private Bennie of Camp Devens, Mass., Jacob of Clarinda and Joseph of Roland. He had been making his home with Joseph from the time his wife died last February. He is also mourned by two brothers and many grandchildren. Short funeral services were held from the house at Roland, conducted by Rev. Sandven. On Thursday afternoon further services were held from the Lincoln church at Huxley, conducted by Rev. Duea, who addressed the sorrowing relatives and friends in the English language. Rev. Sandven assisted, speaking in the Norwegian language. The choir rendered several selections and Miss Erma Sydnes rendered very beautifully "Jesus Lover of My Sou." Burial was made in the family lot north of Huxley.
