OBITUARY OF MRS. AUGUST PETERSON

Mrs. Sophia Linn Peterson was born July 25, 1854, in Webster county, Iowa, and died December 29th, 1915, at Slater, Iowa, at an age of 61 years, 5 months and 4 days. At the age of 14 she moved with her parents to Moline, Illinois, where her father, the Rev. John Linn, was engaged in the ministry. They lived in Moline for three years when they moved to Rockford, the same state, where she was united in marriage to Mr. August Peterson, September 12, 1872. They made Rockford their home for eight years, when they moved to Iowa, taking up their residence at Sheldahl in 1881. They made that place their home till in 1888 when they moved to Slater where they have since resided.

Deceased was the mother of nine children, five sons and four daughters. Three of these died in infancy, leaving six, with a loving husband and father to mourn her loss. They are: sons, Henry, Archie and Van, and daughters, Mrs. S.E. Shaeffer of Stratford, Mae, Mrs. Chas. Rupp of Chicago, Blanche and Mrs. J.P. Warren of Cambridge.
