Nevada Public Library obituary file, Nevada, Iowa. AMES DAILY TRIBUNE, Friday, Oct. 5, 1973. “SERVICES MONDAY FOR CLARK WHITNEY. Clark D. Whitney, 78, 1310 16th St., died Thursday at Mary Greeley Hospital. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. from the Bethesda Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl F. Schattauer, Jr. officiating. Mr. Whitney was born May 10, 1895, the only child of Rose and Evan Whitney, in Deep River. He received his B. A. degree from Cornell College, Mount Vernon. He was a chashier at the State Bank of Deep River. In 1932 he came to Ames to attend Iowa State University. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service until retirement in 1960. He was member of the Collegiate Methodist Church, the Izaac Walton League, the Masonic Lodge, and was a former member of the Ames Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; a sister, Mrs. George Eichhorn, Burbank, Calif.; a niece; and a nephew. The body will lie in state at the Adams Funeral Home Saturday evening until time of service.”
