Marjorie Eide, 85, of Story City, died Thursday, Sept. 1, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Burial will be in Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be given to Bethany Manor.
Marjorie T. Wicks was born May 1, 1920, in Roland to Lars and Anna Mae Wicks. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. She graduated from Roland High School in 1939. She married Kenneth Eide Dec. 1, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They were blessed with five children: Marvin, Donna, Marlene, Lori and Karla.
The family resided on a farm north of Ellsworth until 1974. At that time, the family moved into the town of Ellsworth, where Marjorie resided until moving to Bethany Manor in 2000. Shewas a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. She was very active in various social activities through church and other organizations. Family was her first priority. She enjoyed attending her family's activities and events.
She is survived by her five children, Marvin Johnson and wife, Verona, of West Des Moines, Donna Baldner and husband, Doug, of Springfield, Mo., Marlene Vulgamott and husband, Gary, of Jewell, Lori Miller and husband, Steve, of Boone and Karla Vaubel and husband, Tracy, of Ankeny; nine grandchildren, Stephanie and Mike Reymann, Chris and Patti Johnson, Kelly and Scott Easton, Jeff and Joselyn Baldner, Tiffani Baldner, Keith Vulgamott, Christa Vulgamott, Jay and Melissa Miller, and Brenna Miller; nine great grandchildren, Alex and Kira Reymann, Andrew and Elena Johnson, Evan and Lukas Easton, Ryli, Lilli, and Sydni Baldner; and seven brothers and sisters, Amy (Sinold) Swenson of Radcliffe, Charlotte (Gerald) Meimann of Zearing, Hank (Ann) Wicks of Ankeny, Luverne (Mary) Wicks of McCallsburg, Lamont Wicks of Story City, Marie (Paul) Baarson of Apple Valley, Minn., and Bob (Marilyn) Wicks of Jewell.She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Kenneth; in 1989; and one sister, Esther Wicks.
