Minnie A. Olinger, Music Teacher, Dies

Mrs. Minnie A. Olinger, 821 8th Street, 89 years of age, died in the Story County Hospital at 8 p. m. Sunday, August 2 after a heart attack on July 27.

Mrs. Olinger was a prominent woman in Nevada and for many years was very active in the Methodist Church in various capacities. She taught music in her home almost to the very last and retained her vigor and interest in all things.

Mrs. Olinger was born in Coggon, Iowa on June 18, 1875 to Alfred and Lydia Green. She married George W. Olinger on June 10, 1899 at Coggon. She moved to Story County some 53 years ago and at one time lived in Maxwell.

As a member of the Methodist Church she organized the Religious Education Group in Nevada and took part in other groups. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a very good Bible student.

There survives one son, James Olinger, of Nevada, and one grandson, James H. Olinger of Ankeny. There are two great-grandsons Jeffrey and David Olinger, of Ankeny.

Her husband in 1945, parents and six brothers preceded her in death.

The funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Wednesday with Rev. M. C. Shupe, Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will be in the Maxwell Cemetery.
