Last Rites For Mrs. Oscar Smith Held In Colo
Colo, July 28: Last rites for Mrs. Oscar Smith of Chicago, 49, who passed away at her home in Chicago, Saturday, July 21, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church in Colo.
Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased: John Calhoun, Herbert Jones, Harold Boush, Lester Jay, Leo Jones and Ray Wier.
The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Arthur Perry and Mrs. Nel Perry.
Mrs. Mabel Ruth Smith, daughter of Amos and Alice Mae Jones, was born at Colo, Iowa, November 23, 1895.
She was the fifth child of a family of ten.
On May 27, 1915, she was united in marriage to Oscar T. Smith. To this union there were born one son and six daughters.
She died at her home, 3832 W. Fulton St., Chicago, July 21, 1945, age 49 years, 7 months, 21 days.
Surviving are her parents: Mr. and Mrs. Amos Jones, of Colo, Iowa, her husband, Mr. Oscar T. Smith of Chicago; one son, Private Carl Lewis Smith now serving in the U. S. Army stationed in Germany; six daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Alice Behling, of Boone, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Violet Browning of Boone, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Lucille Davenport, of Nevada, Mo., Mrs. Betty Jane Frank, Miss Edna Mildred Smith, and Miss Virginia Isabell Smith of Chicago, and six grand children, five brothers and four sisters, Fred Jones, John Jones, Frank Jones, Amos Jones, all of Colo; Harry Jones of Nevada; Mrs. Carrie Martin, Rockwell, Ia.; Mrs. Blanch Samson, Story City, Mrs. Nellie Weir, Colo and Miss Alice Jones, Ames. The mother and sister, Mrs. Nellie Weir were not able to attend the services.
