Obituaries
Mrs. John Ragee
Funeral services for Mrs. John Ragee, 92, rural route 1, Story City, were held at Elim Lutheran Church, Randall, Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. Pastor Donald L. Berg officiated. Cathy Stevenson was organist. William Buckles sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Interment was at Mt. Olive cemetery near Randall, where Chaplain Rudy Anderson of Story City also offered prayer.
Pallbearers were Charles, David and Robert Sheldahl, Larry Ragee, Clark and Alan Risdal, all grandsons, of the deceased.
Karen Olava Ragee was born in Aardal, Stavanger, Norway, April 26, 1884, and passed away at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Nov. 10.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Aardal. She emigrated to America in 1902 and came to relatives in Illinois.
On Feb. 18, 1912 at Malta, Ill. she was united in marriage to John Ragee. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Iowa and became engaged in farming. She lived at her farm home near Randall for over 54 years, and was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall for over sixty years.
Surviving are four children Mrs. Clara (David) Sheldahl, Mesa, Ariz., Herman Ragee of Nevada, Alma Ragee, Story City and Mrs. Gladys (Gerald) Risdal of Roland, twelve grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She also leaves in Norway, two sisters Mrs. Anna (Einar) Sedberg, Aardal, Norway and Mrs. Martha Hagen, Fiskas, Norway, also a brother, Ole Leidas of Aaral, Norway.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jone and Ane Hendricks Liedas of Aardal, Norway; her husband, John on Nov. 17, 1962, a son Joseph on June 28, 1974, three children, Joseph, Hilda and Clara in 1915, and a daughter Gladys in 1926. Also a granddaughter, Sonja Sheldahl and two sisters Mrs. Johanna Twedt and Amalia Leidas of Aardal, Norway, and a brother Tom Johnson of Moline, Ill.
