Funeral Services Held at Huxley for Mrs. Knut Bjelland

Huxley, Nov. 12--Funeral services for Mrs. Knut Bjelland who passed away Sunday afternoon where held at Palestine church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock following a short prayer service at the home.

The church was filled to its capacity when relative and friends were called together unexpectedly to pay their last tribute of respect to a dear one who had been called away so suddenly.

Mrs. C. R. Reng sang a solo, "Abide With Me," after which Rev. Buland had scripture reading. A high school girls sextette composed of Evelyn Dobson, Inez Miller, Betty Ann Johnson, Edna Wenos, Kathryn Larson and Yvonne Dobbe sang "Face to Face."

Rev. Buland then delivered the sermon and chose his text from the 16th verse in the 3rd chapter of St. John where he brought forth God's wonderful love to all and spoke comforting words to the bereaved family in their hour of trial.

Mrs. Roy Elliott and Mrs. C. R. Reng sang a duet, "God's Way Is The Best Way."

There were many beautiful floral offerings and several gifts to the missions as well as other gifts given in her memory. Mrs. Bjelland was a quiet unassuming woman, a devoted wife and mother. She had won a large circle of friends in the community where she spent her life, worked faithfully and gave her services freely. The junior class of which the daughter, Neoma is a member attended the services in a body together with Supt. Reng and other high school teachers.

Nellie Bauge, daughter of Lars and Anna Bauge was born on a farm near Huxley, March 15, 1892. She was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine church and was a member of the North Palestine Ladies Aid society. On Jan. 28, 1920, she was united in marriage to Knut Bjelland and his union was blessed with one daughter, Neoma. She passed away at her home north of Huxley Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, 1938, at the age of 46 years, 7 months and 21 days. She is mourned by her husband and daughter, her mother, Mrs. Anna Bauge, seven brothers, Arthur Bauge of Edmunds, N. D., Nels, Marion, Ted, Abner, Albert and Eldon of this community, five sisters, Mrs. Robert Barrie of Inglewood, Calif., Mrs. George Anderson of Des Moines, Mrs. Emil Olson and Mrs. Fred Rector of Ames and Mrs. John Severeid of Cambridge. All were present at the funeral except one brother, Arthur. Her father, an infant brother and sister preceded her in death.

Six brothers served as pall bearers and interment was in the Palestine Cemetery.
