Funeral Services Are Held Saturday For Thomas G. Lundy
Thomas G. Lundy, only son of John and Lutie Lundy, was born Nov. 25, 1890, in Jo Daviess County, Ill.
His family moved to Story County, Ia., Jan. 3, 1901. He attended Zearing High School and Drake University.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth Allen on Sept. 10, 1917. They were the parents of two sons, Gordon and Paul, and one daughter, Arleyne.
Lundy lived for 43 years on the same farm northwest of Zearing, moving to his present home in 1951, where he died at 11:25 p. m., Oct. 10, 1962, at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 15 days.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, his sons, Gordon and Paul, daughter, Mrs. Myron (Arleyne) Gildersleeve, ten grandchildren, one sister, Lola, (Mrs. Myrl D. Johnson) of Roland, and two nephews.
His parents and an infant sister, Leah, preceded him in death.
He was a member of some public service board for the last 36 years of his life. Chief among these might be mentioned the Lincoln Township and Story County Boards of Education, the Triple A, Soil Conservation Service, Farmer's Mutual Insurance of Roland for 30 years, and the Story County Board of Supervisors from 1953 until the time of his death. He was a member of the Zearing Christian Church. His 50 year Masonic Certificate was a prized honor he received in June 1962.
Funeral Services
Funeral services for Thomas G. Lundy were held in the Zearing Christian Church, Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Ted Warren officiating. male quartet composed of Carroll Bailey, Eldon Crain, Dale Johnston and Max McBride, accompanied by Mrs. Lucille Dakins at the organ, provided music for the service.
The many floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Ruth Chance and Mrs. Lyda Herr.
Pacific Lodge No. 469 A.F. and A.M. of Zearing conducted the Masonic services a the graveside with Dr. R. M. Shipman of Ames in charge.
Casket bearers were Benjamin Anderson, Wilbur Eley, Russell Golly, Kermit Helland, J. A. Lund and Harry Strassburg.
Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.
