Pioneer State Center Woman Passed Away Very Suddenly

State Center, Oct. 15--Mrs. Caroline Augusta Probst, 72, a resident of Marshall and Story counties since 1882, died at her home in State Center at 8:10 Thursday evening of heart trouble.

Mrs. Probst had been out calling during the afternoon and returned home about 5:30 and neighbors saw her about the place around 6 o'clock, but at 7 o'clock when her son Henry, who lived with her, came home from work he found his mother prone on her back laying on the kitchen floor. There was no evidence of struggle and no bruises were found on her body, indicating that she had merely collapsed. Death did not ensue until 8:10.

Caroline Augusta Probst was born April 1, 1866, in Dankelshein, Germany, the daughter of Henry and Augusta Bohnsack. She came to America in 1882 with a group of immigrants who settled on the Benson farm near LaMoille in Marshall county. She married William Probst March 12, 1885, at LaMoille and they lived on farms in Marshall and Story counties until 1923, when the family moved to State Center. From 1902 to 1923 the family lived on a farm southeast of Colo. Mr. Probst died April 8, 1927.

Mr. and Mrs. Probst were the parents of 12 children, seven of whom are surviving. These are: Mrs. Henry Koppey and Mrs. Arthur Ficken of State Center; Mrs. Clarence Wyatt of LaMoille, and Mrs. Elmer Freland of Marshalltown, together with three sons William, Henry and Fred of State Center. Mrs. Probst also leaves two brothers, Henry Bohnsack of LaMoille and Freeman Bohnsack of Marshalltown, besides one brother and one sister in Germany.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 and at St. John's Lutheran church at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. H. P. Kumpf, pastor of St. John's, will be in charge. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.
