George B. Nibe Funeral Services Held In Story C.
Funeral services for George B. Nibe were held Monday, Sept. 24 at 2 p. m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City.
Pastor Quentin Quanbeck officiated. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson, organist, accompanied the vocalists, Mrs. Homer Olson and Mrs. Ray Romsey.
Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Sweet, Llyl Wing, Alfred Jacobson. W. A. Egemo, Richard Munsen and Roy Gaard.
Members of the City Council and officials were honorary pallbearers: Atty. Peter B. Larson, Sheldon W. Williams, Homer Larson, A. D. Moulin, O. L. Jamison, Dr. R. W. Johnson, Arvie S. Jacobson and Edgar M. Ose.
Obituary
George Bernhardt Nibe, the son of the late Martin and Brita Nibe, was born in Story City, April 4, 1896. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethel Lutheran Church of which he was a lifelong member.
On April 16, 1917 he was married to Marie Ella Stole of Clarion. To this union four children were born: Major Melbourne Nibe of Utica, Mich., Mrs. Atlee (Gladys) Branyord of Ames, Ms. William (Donna) See of Nevada and Mrs. Lorraine Tesdall of Kelley.
Nibe was a very active member in his church and served as deacon, Sunday School superintendent, Bible class teacher, and president and vice president of the congregation.
Having lived most of his life in Story City, he was active in community life. He served as city official in the capacity of both councilman and mayor. Nibe died Sept. 20 following a heart attack, at the age of 60 years, five months and 16 days.
His wife, Marie and four children survive, nine grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Reuben Nibe and Mrs. Martin G. (Freda) Olson of Story City and Mrs. Terresse Granville of Stanhope.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Helmer Nibe and two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Anna) Thorson and Mrs. George (Selma) Cole and a grandchild, Dwight Tesdall.
