John H. Orr Rites Held February 9 In Colo Church

Funeral services for John H. Orr, prominent Colo business man were held at 930 a.m. Friday, February 9 at the St. Mary's Church in Colo with the Rev. Alphonse White at Roseville, Iowa in charge.

Music was furnished by St. Mary's Choir accompanied by Mrs. Fred Berka, organist.

Casket bearers were Eldon Schoonover, Floyd Oswalt, Herbert Jones, Glenn Olson, Clayton Hopkins and Wm. Barrett.

In charge of the beautiful floral arrangements were Mrs. Golly Smith and Mrs. Irma Hemping.

Interment was made in St. James cemetery at Colo. The American Legion of Colo was in charge of the graveside services.

Life Sketch

John H. Orr, son of Wiley and Agnes Orr, was born on November 4, 1899. He died February 6, 1962 very suddenly at his home in Colo at the age of 62 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Colo and was always very active in all church and community functions.

Orr operated a restaurant for 25 years and an insurance business for 35 years in Colo. His entire lifetime was spent in the Colo community.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Agnes Orr of Colo; three sisters, Mrs. Mary McCoy, Colo, Mrs. Anna Rose, LaGrange, Ill. and Mrs. Margaret Templeton of Goldfield, a brother, Grant of Colo, several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

He is also survived by his aunt, Miss Kathryn Donnelly, with whom he made his home for several years.

His body lay in state at her home until time for the services. Rosaries were recited there on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Wisconsin, Chicago, Joliet, Indianola, Des Moines, Waterloo, Marshalltown, Collins, Nevada, Ames, Goldfield, Story City, Maxwell and La Grange.
