Orpheus Pritchard Funeral Services Held In Collins

Services for Orpheus Pritchard were held in the Collins Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Thomas Woodin officiating.

Musical selections "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "Under His Wing" were sung by Mrs. Stanley Mitchell and Mrs. Robert Schmitt accompanied by Mrs. C. R. Stone at the piano. Mrs. Milton Hale and Mrs. Gordon Holland cared for the flowers.

Casket bearers were Loyd Holland, Richard Holland, Gordon Holland, Raymond Long, James Johnstone, C. R. Stone.

Life Sketch

Marmion Orpheus Pritchard, son of William C. and Marietta Watkins Pritchard was born on a farm west of Collins, July 23, 1889 and died at the Story County Hospital in Nevada on January 15, 1962 at the age of 72 years, five months, and 23 days. He attended the Collins schools then went to Colorado where he met and married Mary Steensoma.

To this union were born two daughters, Juanita and Marie. They returned to Iowa and for several years farmed in the Maxwell Community. After leaving the farm he went west again and was engaged in different occupations. He liked best the years spent patrolling the water front at San Francisco, Calif.

On April 27, 1957 he was married to Mildred Denniston in Reno, Nevada. They returned to make their home in Collins. He had been in ill health for some time.

Orpheus is survived by his wife, Mildred; two daughters, sister, Edith of Maxwell; three brothers, Roscoe of Nevada, Flavius of Collins and Dr. W. W. Pritchard of Yucca Valley, Calif., nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
