TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, August 18, 2005.

Wilma Bowers, 85, of the Baxter Health Care Center, died there Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ. Following services, a private family burial took place at the Peoria Cemetery in rural Maxwell. Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter, where her family was present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in her name to her family. Wilma was born Feb. 14, 1920. She was raised and educated in Collins, where she graduated from Collins High School. Wilma then attended Simpson College. During her lifetime Wilma was a nurses aide for over 25 years at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Wilma enjoyed music, ballroom dancing and horses, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Wilma is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Bill) Thompson, of Des Moines, Karol (Bill) Waterhouse, of Collins, and Connie (Dan) Hawbaker, of Edmond, Okla.; her three grandchildren: Tracy, Tammy and Billy; and her six great-grandchildren, Dustin, Jake, Cole, Mac, Heath and Hunter.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, John I. and Opal Kimberly.
