Jean Ihle, 85, of Madrid, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at Madrid Home.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1919, to Leonard and Stella (Frise) Bengston in Madrid. She married Kenneth Ihle on March 9, 1938, in Madrid. She was a member of the JV Club and was a 30-year member of the Saturday Night Club. She worked in housekeeping at Iowa State University for 17 years before retiring in 1980. She was a lifetime resident of Madrid and Slater.

Immediate survivors are her husband, Kenneth, of Madrid; a son, Leon (Pamela) Ihle, of Arlington Heights, Ill.; a daughter, Patricia (Rex) Hughes, of Nipomo, Calif.; a sister, Bonnie King, of West Des Moines; three grandsons, Jeffrey Hughes, Richard Hughes and Justin Ihle; and three great-granddaughters, Alison Hughes, Lauren Hughes and Peyton Nicole Ihle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Norma Bengston.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. Burial was at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, or the Madrid Home.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater handled arrangements.
