Martin Helland, 91, Dies at Home in Slater this Morn.

Martin Sjursen Helland, 91, died this morning at his home north of Slater.

Helland was born on a farm south of Huxley on May 5, 1868, the son of Severt and Engeborg Helland. He was baptized and confirmed at the Fjeldberg Church in Huxley and was a lifelong member of that congregation.

On March 25, 1897, he was married to Bell Hulderson and to this union nine children were born, all of whom survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Leslie and Mike both of Slater and seven daughters, Mrs. Olga Holland of Clear Lake, Mrs. Evaline Falls of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Lillian Peterson of Graettinger, Mrs. Fern Stedronsky of Wagner, S. D.; Mrs. Marguerite Bryant of Sheldahl; Mrs. Maxine Fatland of Rockwell and Mrs. Thelma Davis of Virginia Beach, Va.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater.
