Former Story County Woman Died at State Center Home
State Center, Aug. 28--Mrs. Fred Voss, 87, who lived for 40 years on a farm in the eastern part of Story county, die at 11 p. m. Thursday, at her home in State Center, following a long illness due to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. Voss was born Wilhelmina Speth at Litchendorf, Holstein, Germany, June 11, 1850, an came to the United States with her parents in 1862. The family settle at Platteville, Wis., where Miss Speth was married to Fred H. Voss in 1865. Two years later Mr. and Mrs. Voss came to the French Grove settlement north of State Center and in 1869 moved to the Story county farm.
In 1909 Mr. and Mrs. Voss retired and moved to State Center, where Mr. Voss died in 1914. For a number of years Mrs. Voss lived alone here, but in 1935 her daughter Mrs. Chris Schultz [should be Schulze], and family moved in with her from the Story county farm and her home has been with this group since that time.
Mrs. Voss has one surviving daughter, Mrs. Anna Bunning of Washington, Mo., aside from Mrs. Schultz, from a family of five children.
Funeral arrangement have not been completed.
