Obituary

HAROLD W. HOUGEN

Funeral services for Harold W. Hougen, 72, Story City, were held Friday, July 15 at 2 p.m. from Bethany Lutheran Church, McCallsburg. Pastors Orris Haraldson and Olaf Holen officiated.

Larry Ellingson, soloist, accompanied by Kirby Christiansen, organist, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Burial was in the cemetery at McCallsburg. Pall bearers were Robert Lounsberry, Lawrence Doser, John Phillips, James Gjerde, Floye Holle, and Robert Phillips.

Harold Wilson Hougen was born Sept. 15, 1904 to Ole C. and Carrie Hougen, at McCallsburg. He farmed near McCallsburg until retiring in 1961 when he moved to Story City and resided here until his death. He was employed by the National Animal Disease Laboratory at Ames from 1961 until 1971.

Hougen passed away at the Story City Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning, July 12, having suffered a cerebral stroke. Survivors include two brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Hazel (Harold) Phillips, Story City; Kermit Hougen of Radcliffe; Chester Hougen, Lesburg, Fla.; Mrs. Vivian (Aaron) Wallach, Fort Worth, Texas; and Mrs. Mildred (Roy) Thorson of Hays, Kan.

His parents and two brothers, Maurice Hougen and Jeffrey Hougen preceded him in death.
