B. F. TROUP DROWNS SAVING DAUGHTER
B. F. Troup a farmer residing near Maxwell was drowned last Sunday evening about eight o'clock while trying to rescue his daughter who was in the water near Emmetsburg. He was in the act of bringing her to the shallow water when he sank. When he did not appear again help was called and the sheriff's son who lived near by rescued the daughter but Mr. Troup had gone down. He was recovered forty minutes from the the time he went down but all efforts to restore life proved futile. The pulmotor was used and artificial respiration produced. They could get action of the lungs but the heart would not respond. It is thought that heart failure was the cause of death.
Benjamin Troup is the eldest son of Mrs. Ann Troup near Maxwell and was born and reared at that place. He was 45 years of age. He leaves his wife and six children, two sons and four daughters, his mother and five brothers and one sister. The brothers are Will M., Martin H., Walter, all of Maxwell and Jake of Des Moines, Rolla of Denver, Colo.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday afternoon from the country Brethren church conducted by Rev. J. K. Eikenberry and interment made in the cemetery.
The family are extended heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement by their many friends in Story county and elsewhere.
