Former Story County Man Dead; Funeral at Boone

Frank McQuillin, 78, earlier day resident of Nevada and the Colo community, died Monday at the University hospital at Iowa City, of pneumonia, following an operation for the removal of a cataract on an eye.

Funeral rites will be held Thursday afternoon, with a prayer service at the home at 1409 Green street, Boone at 2"15 and from the First Methodist church at 2:40, with Rev. G. Harvey Sutton of Central Church of Christ, Boone, in charge. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery, Boone.

Frank McQuillin was a native of Ashland county, Illinois*, where he was born June 16, 1861. t the age of 4 years he came with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McQuillin in a covered wagon to Warren county, Illinois, where the family lived a year. From there they continued their journey westward and locate on a farm south of Colo. Here he grew to manhood and when the family moved to Nevada, he came here and learned the barber trade. He worked here and later at Maxwell an Woodward, finally settling in Boone where he continued to work at hi trade for 45 years. Because of ill health and impaired eyesight he retired about 5 years ago.

He leaves hi wife and one son, Clifford an one grandson Paul McQuillen, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his death. One son, Iryl, passed away at the age of 30 years.

He was a faithful member of the Methodist church in Boone and a devoted husband and father.

One sister, Mrs. I. E. Crain of Anoka, Minn., is the sole survivor of the eight children in the family.

The deceased, still well remembered by many Story ounty people, was a cousin of Mrs. E. M. Kriner of 905 G avenue and Mrs. Mina Glenn of Des Moines.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: There is no Ashland County, Illinois. Ashland County is in Ohio. In the 1860 census, the parents of Oliver Frank McQuillin, Alexander and Nancy (Humphrey) McQuillin, are living in Vermillion, Ashland County, Ohio. I believe Frank was born there.
