Funeral Rites Held Saturday for Leslie T. Larson
Special to the Journal.
Slater, July 5--Funeral services for Leslie T. Larson of Huxley were held at the Bethlehem church in Slater, Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. A brief service at the home was held at 2:30.The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem. The floral offerings were unusually beautiful and numerous and were arranged by Mrs. Herman Hegberg, Mrs. Ralph Clark, Mrs. A. J. Reinertson and Mrs. Kermit Granseth.
A solo, "In the Garden" was sung by Max Belz of Conra,. Mrs. L. E. Fausch of Alleman sang, "Asleep in Jesus."
The pall bearers were Orville Kalsem, Sophus Berhow, Leslie Tendell, O. J. Severeid, Milo Havens and Ted Bauge.
Interment was made in the Slater cemetery.
Leslie T. Larson was born December 11, 1903 at Slater and died July 1, 1939 at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines from bronchial pneumonia following an appendectomy. His parents, John and Ella Larson, members of a pioneer family preceded him in death. He attended grade school in Slater. The family moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1921. In 1922 he became a member of the English Lutheran church. He graduated from the Colorado Springs high school in 1925. The family spent some time in Arizona, where he attended the University of Arizona in 1927-28.
He returned to Iowa and since that time has been employed by the H. L. Munn company at Huxley the past 10 years. He also had an interest in the Slater telephone company. His marriage to Miss Barbara Belz of Conrad, who was a primary teacher in the Slater schools, took place Feb. 21, 1936. Two children blessed this union, Sally Elizabeth, two and one half years and Clifford Craig, infant. He is survived by his wife nd two children, also two brothers Cecil A. Larson of Slater and John Larson of Huxley, three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Clark of Fulton, Mo., Mrs. Joe Kinney of Stur, Tex., and Dorothy Larson of Slater. The entire community extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
