Funeral Services Held Sunday Afternoon for Mrs. Whitaker

Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Whitaker who died here Friday, were held at the farm home in Nevada township Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in charge, assisted by Rev. Theo. Yackel of the Evangelical church. The songs were by a quartette from that church consisting of Mrs. Glen Hubbard, Mrs. Lester Hanson, Floyd Alderman and LeRoy Jones. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The services were attended by a large concourse of relatives and old neighbors and friends, who gathered to pay a final tribute of love and respect to the deceased.

Obituary of Mrs. Whitaker

Ada May Bates Whitaker, eldest daughter of Elnathan and Margaret Bates, was born near Nevada in Nevada township, July 15, 1873. She departed this life June 30, 1939, at the Iowa sanitarium at the age of 65 years 11 months and 15 days. She grew to womanhood in Nevada township, and was married to Frank Whitaker, February 14, 1894. To this union was born two children, Elmer Thomas Whitaker and Claude Elnathan Whitaker. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and two sons, Elmer and Claude, two brothers, Leland and Eland Bates, five grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

When yet a young girl she gave her life to Christ, united with the Evangelical church and lived faithful to her church until death.

She was a kind loving wife and mother, and a wonderful neighbor. She will be greatly missed by her family and neighbors and friends.
