Mrs. Ben Borwick Died at Farm Home North of Roland

Roland, May 27--Mrs. Ben Borwick who has been very ill for the past month passed away at their home six miles north of town, Friday afternoon at 12:15. About five years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis. Lisa [should be Lizzie] Wicks Borwick, a daughter of the later Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Wicks was born in Lisbon, Ill., on May 28th, 1872 and if she had lived until Sunday she would have been sixty-seven years. At the age of two years she came to Story county with her parents and has since lived in this community.

She was confirmed and married by Rev. Jacobson. On March 16, 1893 she was united in marriage to ben Borwick, at the same time as her sister Christena was married to Andrew Twedt.

Mr. and Mrs. Borwick have always lived on the farm on which she died. Her husband passed away four years ago and two children Henry and Mabel have preceded her in death. She is survived by ten children and eighteen grandchildren. The children are: Porter Borwick, Henry Borwick and Mrs. Earl Quam of Roland, Mrs. Henry Opstwedt (should be Opstvedt) of McCallsburg, Mrs. Lawrence Donhowe and Mrs. George Tegland [should be Teigland] of Randall, Melbourne, Burdella, Orlene and Benjamin all at home. She also leaves to mourn her death, two brothers, Theodore Wicks and Tom Wicks, of Roland and five sisters, Mrs. Eli Jacobson, and Mrs. Andrew Twedt of Roland, Mrs. Julia Christianson [should be Christenson] of Randall, Mrs. Garfield Halverson of Belmond and Mrs. Ida Waage of Brookings, S. Dak.

Funeral services will be held at the Elim Lutheran church Monday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. G. O. Paulsrud in charge.
