Funeral Service Held Thursday for Vern Presnall
Cambridge, Aug. 27--Funeral services for Vern Presnall were held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Cambridge Methodist church, Rev. C. R. Fitz in charge.
Mrs. Arnold Nerness and Mrs. LeRoy Sargent sang two hymns, "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Vern Presnall, son of John and Martha Presnall, was born in Cambridge, Iowa, on December 8, 1878. He grew up in the Cambridge community and on June 27, 1903, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Bryce. To this union ten children were born.
Mr. Presnall was a cement worker and faithfully plied his trade until be became stricken and thereby unable to work in 1925. For twenty-two years he had been in poor health.
On Monday August 18, 1947, he passed away.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, one son Glen at home in Cambridge, seven daughters, Mrs. Harold Heintz, Mrs. Donald Warren of Cambridge, Mrs. James Sarcome [should be Sarcone] of Fairlington, Va., Mrss. D. L. McCombe [should be McComb] of Hawthorne, Cal., Miss Mable Presnall of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Ralph Breezley of Nevada, Mrs. Robert Payne of Commerce, two half brothers, W. T. Harrison of Cambridge and Charles Shockley of Ames, twenty-three grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of friends.
Casket bearers were Carl Fatland, Will Hawks, Joe Seversike, Orie Jones, Kenneth Wilson and Neil O'Mara. Burial was in the Walnut Grove cemetery.
