Death of Former Colo Man in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
Colo, Aug. 29 -- Friends and relatives were shocked and grieved to hear of the sudden death of Golden Humes Cummings from a heart attack. His death occurred at his home in Glen Ellyn, Ill., 228 Merton Ave. from a heart attack occurring shortly after reaching his home from Chicago where he was a buyer for electrical supplies for Sears Roebuck which position he held for a number of years.
Mr. Cummings was born at Colo, April 16, 1907 and died August 16, 1907 and died August 16 at at the age of 40 years. He graduated from the Colo high school in the year 1924. He was captain of the first Colo football team. He graduated from Iowa State College at Ames with a B. S. degree. He was affiliated with the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and a trustee in the First Presbyterian church at Glen Ellyn, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his mother when he was only three years of age. His father Homes Cummings died at Des Moines, April 1937.
He was married to Marian Gray of Des Moines, Iowa, July 20, 1935, at Des Moines. After their marriage they lived in Oak Park, Ill., six years and built and established their home six years ago in Glen Ellyn.
He is survived by his wife Marian Gray Cummings, Douglas age seven, Michael age two and half and Margaret Ruth eleven months, one aunt, Mrs. Elsie Finley of Nevada, and an uncle W. Golden located in California, several cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral was held at the First Presbyterian church in Glen Ellyn, Rev. Luther Powell officiating. Burial was in Wheaton, Ill. Mr. Cummings was a man of many fine qualities. A kind and loving father and he will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
The many and beautiful flowers were a tribute of the high esteem Mr. Cummings was held.
