Obituary

Rebecca Jane Coventry was born Died at her home in Gilbert, June 18, 1921, aged 63 years, four months and three days. She, with her parents, came to Iowa in 1868. The family settled near Indianola. When she grew to womanhood she became engaged in teaching school. When 17 years old, she was converted and united with the United Presbyterian church. In March, 1883, she was united in marriage to Charles A. Peck. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. I. Caldwell and Mrs. N. V. Waitell [should be Waitley] of Gilbert. Mr. Peck died in 1892. In 1893 she was united in marriage to W. L. Marshall at Des Moines. Mrs. Marshall was a self sacrificing woman, giving herself to helping others and forgetful of self. She had for some time been failing in health, but few thought she was failing so rapidly. She made a hard fight but her overworked body and nerves could not stand the strain. She leaves to mourn her departure, of her immediate family, her husband, two daughters and two grandchildren, one brother, John Coventry, of Des Moines, and three step sons, Ernest, Henry and Fred Marshall. Also a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the family residence on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. L. Wissler, and the body was taken to Indianola for burial.
