OBITUARY
ASA JAMES MEAD
Asa James Mead, son of Asa B. Mead and Rachel Mead, was born at Blenheim, Canada, Sept. 15th, 1855. Died at his home in Nevada, April 4th, 1920, as a result of a paralytic stroke received Friday afternoon, Apr. 2nd. He lived at the family home in Blenheim, Can., until he was 14 years of age, from there he moved with the parental family to Johnson's Grove, Story county. He lived at the following places in Story county the balance of his life: Zearing several years, on a farm south of Nevada for some years more and then in Nevada since about 1915. He was farming most of the time. He was the second child of seven children, three boys and four girls. His father and mother are both dead. His father dying January 5th, 1903, and his mother January 21st, same year. His age was 64 years and 6 months. September 4th, 1877, he was united in marriage with Amy S. Hix. Three children were born to them, Guy of Grenada, Minn., Mrs. Charles Shuler of Welcome, Minn., and Mrs. Vandora Green of Nevada.
Those that survive him are his widow, their three children, nine grandchildren, two brothers, John of Colo and William T. of Fernald, and four sisters, Mrs. Maria Tisdale of Zearing, Mrs. Marion Bartlett of Colo, Mrs. O. J. Thorne of Ontario, Ore., and Mrs. Alice Kuhn of Winnebago, Minn. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. No. 644, Electric at Zearing and Modern Woodmen of Zearing. He has been sick about three year, his death was caused by paralysis and other complications The funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 in the United Evangelical church, and be conducted by the Rev. M. E. Shank.
The editor of the Representative has known Mr. Mead for many years and regarded him as a worthy citizen and an agreeable man to meet.
