FRANCIS MARION DRAKE
Francis Marion Drake, the only child of Henry and Corrilla Drake, was born at Belvidere, Ill., January 3, 1853 In his early years the family moved to Story county, Iowa, where the son attended school in Nevada, there graduating, and later attending the State University at Iowa City in 1874-5.
His marriage took place in Nevada March 15, 1882, when Ella L Moore became his wife, and they settled northeast of Nevada. In 1885, the family moved to Woodbine, Iowa, residing there for two years. Later, eight years were spent in Fall River, S. D., the return to Iowa being in 1896, later residences being in Ames, Fernald and Nevada, in the last of which the home has been for a number of years.
Mr. Drake became a Christian and united with the Nevada Methodist Episcopal church April 4, 1915, and continued in its membership until his death. For a considerable time poor health has interfered with his activities but he made no complaint. Finally on the Saturday before his death he was stricken and on Monday afternoon, March 29, 1920, he passed away at about five o'clock, aged sixty-seven years. One daughter, Inez L., passed away in March, 1915. The wife and another daughter, Mrs. Lutie Dildine, survive, and also the aged mother, now eighty-seven years old.
The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church on Thursday afternoon at 2:30, and the body was taken to the Nevada cemetery for burial.
