S. E. HARRISON HEARS SUMMONS

OLD TIME RESIDENT CALLED BY DEATH -- FUNERAL FRIDAY 2:00 P. M. FROM PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The death of Mr. Harrison, Tuesday evening, at the home of his son-in-law, W. W. Finnie, of this city, came as a regretful surprise to the entire local community. He had been for some time a familiar figure on our streets. He was erect in form and apparently in excellent health and good for several years of life yet. No one who did not know his age would have classed him as an octogenarian, yet he had belonged to that class for three years. His fatal illness was brief. He was up town on Saturday, and though having a slight cold, no serious trouble was anticipated by himself or his daughter's household. But the fact was he was suffering from the first stages of pneumonia, which had attacked his lungs. The disease progressed steadily and rapidly, and though, without causing much pain, reached a fatal termination as stated.

Mr. Harrison was born near Upper Sandusky, Ohio, February 22, 1837. His early life was spent in that region and until he came west in 1855. His first permanent residence in this western world was in this city, then a mere hamlet. Here, June 16, 1861, in the present Payne home, he and Elizabeth A. Wilcox were united in marriage. From that time until the death of Mrs. Harrison which occurred some two years ago, Nevada, with the exception of one or two brief absences, was their unbroken abiding place. Here their family of six living children were reared and here among kindred and old time friends their lives were passed. Here, June 16, 1911, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and here their affections were largely centered.

Mr. Harrison was unusually strong and active for one of his age, which was a little past 83. He was a member of the Presbyterian church at the time of death, and had bee for some years.

The surviving members of his family are Mrs. May Confare of Ames, C. B. Harrison, Sheridan, Wyo., M. L. Harrison, Great Bend, Kan., S. E. Harrison, Jr., Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. W. W. Finnie, Nevada, with whom he made his home since the death of Mrs. Harrison. Several grandchildren are also survivors.

The children are all expected to be present at the funeral except S. E. Harrison, Jr. of Los Angeles.

The funeral services will beheld in the Presbyterian church Friday at 2:00 p. m., and conducted by Rev. Mr. Walz, pastor. The burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
