WALTER M'DANIEL DIED EARLY SUNDAY

FUNERAL SERVICES TUESDAY AFTERNOON AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Walter L. McDaniel, 42, well-known young business man of the city, died Sunday morning at 6:40 at his home on south Sixth street after a lingering illness which had confined him to his bed for about seven weeks.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at Central Presbyterian church, with his pastor, Rev. Benthin in charge, and interment will be in the Nevada cemetery.

Mr. McDaniel, born near Mt. Vernon in Lawrence county, Mo., August 2, 1889, had been a resident of Nevada since 1897, when he came to Nevada with his parents, H. A. and Mary McDaniel, at the age of 8 years.

He attended the Nevada schools during his boyhood, later became identified with various grocery firms as a clerk and in 1919 formed a partnership with R. L. Halloway and had since owned and operated the White Way grocery at 1008 Main street.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mona Fowler, September 23, 1914 and to this union three children were born and with the wife and mother survive the deceased. The children are Marjorie, 15, Robert, 12, and Jeanette, 9.

The parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death and besides the wife and three children, he is survived by three brothers, James A., and John W. of Nevada and Rev. Edw. J. McDaniel of Lincoln, Nebr., and one sister, Mrs. Bessie Anderson of Holdridge, Nebr.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian church and also of the Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges.

In declining health for the past three years, he went to the Mayo clinic in May and there learned that he was suffering from complications that were destined to become fatal and he was advised to return home and take a complete rest for a time, which he did.

He then returned to his work at the store, but about 7 weeks ago was taken worse and ha since been confined to his bed, where he had been under the constant care of his physician, a nurse and his devoted wife and other relatives.

He put up a gallant fight for life and refused to give up, but the last few days it has been realized that the end was near.

Walter McDaniel was a young man of many fine qualities, was a devoted and indulgent husband and father and loyal friend. In business circles he was popular and had many warm friends. In civic affairs he was active and always willing to do his share and even more and his death will be deeply mourned by member of his family and a wide circle of friends.

The business houses of the city will close Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 and remain closed during the hour of the services.
