Funeral Services for Mrs. Severt Tesdall Held at Slater
Slater, Jan. 6--Funeral service for Mrs. Severt Tesdell, 88, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the church.
Rev. E. R. Rorem had charge of the services. The many beautiful floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. Albert Lehman and Mrs. John Hermann.
Three duets "The Lord Is My Shepherd," "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "Light of Home," were sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson. A number of gifts of money to missions were given in memory of Mrs. Tesdell.
The pall bearers were: Homer Tesdell, Severt Henry Tesdall, and Marion Christianson of Des Moines, Roland Tesdell, Fred and Ed Sydness of Slater.
Burial was in the Bethlehem cemetery by the side of her husband who died a number of years ago.
Ingborg Lee was born in Shold, Norway, December 22nd, 1854 and died Dec. 29th, 1942, at the age of 88 years. Her parents were Severin and Begga Lee. She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and came to America when 19 years old.
Her marriage to Mrs. Severt E. Tesdell took place in Story county in 1878. They made their home on a farm near Slater until the year 1906, when they retired and moved into town.
Nine children blessed their home. One son died in infancy and another son, Severin died in 1913. Mrs. Tesdell was survived by five sons Ed, Ben and Leonard of Des Moines, Carl and Sanford of Slater, two daughters Mrs. C. R. Sydnes and Mrs. William Cassel of Slater; 23 grandchildren also one sister, Mrs. Henry Sampson of Slater and brother, Torger Lee, in Norway.
Among those from a distance attending the funeral services for Mrs. Tesdell were Mrs. Severin Tesdell of Fargo, North Dakota, Miss Esther Sydness, R. N. of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tesdell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tesdell, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tesdell, Mr. and Mr. Homer Tesdell, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Christianson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Young, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Lundahl and Mrs. A. O. Hauge of Des Moines.
