MISS WARRICK DIED IN DES MOINES

FORMER NEVADA WOMAN HAD LONG RECORD IN CAPITAL CITY SCHOOLS

Miss Georgianna Warrick, 72, only sister of Fred C. Warrick of 414 J avenue, died at her home 1327 Grand avenue, Des Moines Tuesday afternoon, according to word reaching Nevada.

Fred C. Warrick, one of the two surviving brothers, is now at Rochester, Minn., where he has but recently submitted to a surgical operation, and will be unable to be here for the funeral and interment.

The other surviving brother is Will Warrick, who is located at Arkansas Pass, Texas, and will also be unable to be here.

Miss Warrick, who was born in Nevada 72 years ago, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Warrick, had been a teacher in the Des Moines schools for 45 year. She had retired from teaching a year ago in September. She had been bedfast a month.

The old Warrick home faced on Fourth street, north of J avenue, just north of where the Christian church now stands.

The family consisted of the parents, three sons, Will, Frank and Fred, and the only daughter Miss Georgianna. Frank died in Kansas City a number of years ago.

M. P. Mathison, former Nevada man but now of Humboldt, was raised in the Warrick home and he is now here making the burial arrangements, having been with Miss Warrick during her last hours.

Miss Warrick first went to Des Moines as a teacher in the old Bryant school on the East side, where she served as principal for many years. When that school became a part of the state capital extension she continued her teaching at Emerson school.

Until her retirement, she told friends, she had never missed a semester of either attending or teaching school since she was 5.

"She was a splendid, conscientious public servant, very highly respected by teachers, principals and patrons," Supt. J. W. Studebaker said when told of her death.

"I never heard of her losing her patience. She was a most congenial person."

Miss Warrick was a member of the P. E. O. sisterhood and of the Eastern Star order.

She is survived by two brothers, Fred C., of Nevada and William of Arkansas Pass, Tex., and by two adopted daughters, Juanita Fogle and Katherine Cole of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Thursday at Lilly's funeral home in Des Moines and burial will be in Nevada. It is expected that the funeral party will arrive here at 3:00 and there will be a brief graveside service at the grave.
