Former Nevada Boy Buried Today

The body of Lynn Sherk, 24, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sherk of 5908 West Superior St., Chicago, accompanied by the parents arrived in Nevada over the Northwestern at 7:-- this morning where a large number of relatives and long time friends met the funeral party and formed with them the cortege which wended its way to the Nevada cemetery where the last service was held. The funeral service had ben held at the family home in Chicago on Friday afternoon.

The brief but impressive interment service was in charge of Dr. James O. Simon of Memorial Lutheran church at this city at the close of which Mrs. Simon sang "Abide With Me."

The words -------- were spoken by Dr. Simon as the sorrowing group stood in the peaceful and beautiful flower bedecked silent city of the dead at an hour in the morning which much typify the early passing of the splendid young man

The large number of floral offerings accompanying the remains from Chicago testified to the high esteem in which the decease was held in the city in which he had grown to manhood.

The death of Mr. Sherk Jr. which occurred at the family home in Chicago had come as a distinct shock to the family who felt he was making satisfactory recovery until a couple of days before his death.

On Easter Sunday he had been taken to a Chicago hospital where on April 6 he submitted to an operation for the removal of his right kidney. Five weeks ago he had returned to his home and it was thought he was convalescing satisfactorily.

The deceased graduated from the Austin High school in Chicago after which he was employed in the Chicago office of the Reuben Donnelley corporation for two years. He later attended Armour Institute of Technology for three years and at the time of his illness Grigsby Gunnow Radio company.

Besides the parents he is survived by two brothers, Richard who graduated from Chicago high school last year and Robert who is still in high school, also a large number of relatives and friends.

Among the relatives from out of the city here for the service this morning were his mother's sisters Mrs. Carrie Ferguson of Ames and Mrs. D. L. James and husband of Chariton, her brother Walter J. Ellis, wife and family of Cambridge, his father's sister Mrs. T. l. Tesdall and husband of Huxley, as well as a number of others both from Nevada and outside the city.

The deceased was born in Nevada August 10, 1908 leaving here 1- years ago and being but a few months less than 24 years old at the time of his passing.

In the loss of their son who is spoken of as a splendid example of young manhood, Story county friends join with relatives in expressing their sympathy to those bereaved.
