NEVADA WOMAN DIED EARLY TODAY

MRS. J. E. TOWNSEND PASSED AWAY AT HOME ON THIRD STREET

Mrs. J. E. Townsend died at her home 1429 Third street today at -:00 a. m. Death came suddenly, after an illness of a number of weeks, but from which she had appeared to be rallying. Heart failure was the cause of death. The son Floyd had arrived from Oklahoma last evening and had been talking with the mother this morning, shortly before she died and she appeared to be feeling brighter.

Mrs. Townsend, whose maiden name was Henrietta Jordan, leaves her husband and three children. They are Mrs. Tom Wilson of Nevada, Floyd Townsend of Oklahoma City and Ray Townsend of Nevada. She also leaves one brother Otto Jordan of Tomahawk, Wis.

The family had lived in Iowa for about 27 years and in Nevada since 1920.

Mrs. Townsend was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and was also affiliated with the Royal Neighbors order.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2:00, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Per her death record, Henrietta "Etta" (Bates) Townsend was born the daughter of Mr. Bates and Martha Bundy. The 1880 Greenwood, Vernon County, Wisconsin census lists Henrietta as "Henrietta Jordan" with her brother "Otto Jordan" as the adopted children of William Jordan and his wife Rachel (McClain) Jordan.
