Former Slater Woman Died In Minnesota

Slater, Nov. 8--Mrs. Bertha Neslund, 67, a former resident of Slater, died at her daughter's home in Spicer, Minn., Wednesday evening after a few days illness from pneumonia. Funeral services were held at Spicer, Saturday morning before leaving for Slater. Services were held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Fred Johnson near Madrid Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock. The services were n charge of her former pastor, Rev. A. G. Lagerquist of the Swedish Penn Avenue Baptist church of Des Moines assisted by Rev. E. R. Rorem.

Old neighbors of the deceased served as pall bearers. Miss Bessie Malmberg and Mrs. Henry Oson sang three beautiful duets "When the Gates of Heaven Swing Outward," "Does Jesus Care" and "Good Night Here but Good Morning up There." Many beautiful floral offerings paid silent tribute to the memory of Mrs. Neslund. Burial was made in the Slater cemetery where she was laid to rest by the side of her husband who passed away a number of years ago.

Bertha Larson-Neslund was born in Snavold, Sweden, Jan. 1, 1867 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Nelson, at Spicer, Minn., Nov. 1, 1933, at the age of 66 years and 10 months. She came to America with her parents in 1882 and made their home west of Slater. Her marriage to Olaf Neslund took place April 16, 1885. They made their home near here until the death of her husband when she moved to Des Moines with her family and she became a member of the Penn Avenue Baptist church. Later she moved to Minnesota to be with her children in that vicinity. She leaves to mourn her loss, four children: Mrs. Mildred Nelson of Spicer, Minn., Alvin and Arthur Neslund of Willmar, Minn., and Clarence Neslund of Willmar, Minn., and Clarence Neslund of Des Moines. Also three sisters Mrs. Fred Johnson of Madrid, Mrs. Albert Nelson of Mount Vernon, Wash., Mrs. Esther Peterson of Ft. Dodge, and two brothers, Herbert Larson of Alleman and Albia Larson of Albin, Wyo.
