Moore Funeral Thursday Afternoon
Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, Nov. 10--Funeral services for O. J. Moore were held at Cooper's Funeral Chapel, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. B. H. Guthrie had charge of the services assisted by Rev. W. M. Scheuermann. The songs "In the Garden" and "The Lord is My Shepherd" was furnished by Mary and Harriet Olinger accompanied by Mrs. W. T. John. The nephews of the late Mr. Moore were pall bearers. They were S. G. Sherman, Fred Maxwell, Kenneth Squires, Forest Cooper and Stanley Nickerson. Burial was in the Iowa Center cemetery.O. J. Moore, son of Lot R. and Mary E. Moore, was born in Trenton, Ia., April 4, 1851, and passed away at his home in Maxwell, Nov. 7, 1933 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 7 days. He with his parents and family, came to Story county in 1863 and he has spent most of the remainder of his life in this community. In 1879 he was united in marriage to Emma Daugherty of Nevada. She passed away the year following and left a son who lived but one year. Mr. Moore is survived by [his sisters, half sister, and brother] Mrs. S. E. Cooper and Mrs. Theodore Maxwell of Maxwell, Mrs. Harry Squires of Rolfe and Lot Moore of Ruthven.
Out of town people attending the funeral were Ray Bodger of Nevada, Chas. Webb of Cambridge an Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Squires of Colo.
