MRS. THORNTON DIED AT ZEARING TODAY
WELL-KNOWN WOMAN PASSED AWAY AFTER PARALYTIC STROKE

Zearing, March 7--Mrs. Peter Thornton died at her home here today as the result of a stroke of paralysis suffered Monday. She remained in a coma from the time of the stroke until she died.The funeral will be held from the Thornton home Thursday afternoon at 2:00, after which interment will be in the Zearing cemetery.
Mrs. Thornton was born in Dane county, Wisconsin, August 15, 1860, her maiden name being Augusta Tubbs. There she was married to Peter Thornton and they came to this community in 1877, living here continuously since, with the exception of nine years spent in Pipestone county, Minn.
The husband has been an invalid for several years and had been under the direct care of his wife, who herself had been a sufferer from diabetes for forty years or more. She was a most devoted wife and mother and ins spite of her handicaps had continued to carry on in a remarkable manne and in the best of spirit.
She leaves besides her invalid husband, two sons, Fred and Merle Thornton of Zearing and two daughter, Mrs. John Cross of Newton and Mrs. Grace Gilmore of Zearing.
She also leaves a brother Grant Tubbs of Bloomington, Ill., a half brother Roscoe Tubbs also of Bloomington and a sister, Mrs. Roxy Marshall of Bagley, Wis.
