ACCIDENT VICTIM DIED LATE MONDAY
W. H. CLEMONS, 69, PASSED AWAY ABOUT 4:30 YESTERDAY
W. H. Clemons, 69, Ninth and Lincoln avenue, Nevada, died late Monday afternoon at Iowa sanitarium, from acute dialation of the heart, brought on from the shock suffered in a motor car crash on a road near Britt, Thursday.
Mr. Clemons, an inspector in the Iowa State Pharmacy department of the state, suffered the almost complete severing of his tongue, a badly lacerated face and ---- the fracture of both knee caps and the breaking of the fibia of the right leg just below the knee and possibly internal injuries.
He was hurried the distance of over a hundred miles in a motor car before receiving surgical aid and was in a serious condition from the shock when he reached here.
After dressing of the wounds everything appeared to be healing nicely, but there was the severe shock and the added danger of a none to strong heart to combat in the fight for life.
The fatal accident occurred Thursday morning 3 miles west of Britt, in an unavoidalbe crash on the icy pavement.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 at the Morfoot Funeral home in Nevada, after which the body will be taken to State Center for interment in the family lot.
The deceased was born William Henry Clemons, at Clemons in Marshall or Story counties.
He was married August 15, 1886 to Miss Mary Frances Waldie and she with three children and three grandchildren survive him. The children are R. E. Clemons of Spencer, William H. Clemons Jr. at home and Mrs. G. H. Guthrie of Davenport. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Charles Burns at Brainerd, Minnesota.
The family home had been successively at Clemons, Zearing, Colo, Ames and Nevada. For nearly 22 years he was located at Zearing where he was engaged in the implement and vehicle business. He was at Ames for about three years and came to Nevada a year ago in Junes.
