Funeral Services for George Berhow

Funeral services for George Berhow were held at the Palestine Lutheran church Saturday afternoon, at three o'clock.

Rev. Peder Buland preached the sermon. His topic was "The Lord is My Shepherd." Three vocal duets "In the Garden," "There is no disappointment in Heaven" and "The Lord in My Shepherd" were sung by Mrs. Roy Elliott and Miss Gladys Tweedt, accompanied by Miss Leona Brendeland.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Pall bearers were A. A. Fjelland, Ole Fjelland, Jacob Mickelson, J. R. Sydnes, Sack Toresdahl and A. T. Fjelland. Interment was in the Palestine cemetery.

George Berhow was born in Polk county April 5, 1872. His parents were Halvor and Kari Berhow.

As a young boy he moved with his parents to Hamilton county where they lived for a short time and later settled near Estherville where he grew to manhood. They also lived in Wright county.

In 1889 he was married to Elizabeth Berhow. They made their home in Wisconsin, until 1919 when they moved to Fertile, Minn., where his wife died in 1926.

They had seven children. One died in infancy. Those living are Ernest and Harold of Kanawha, Clifford of St. Paul, Minn., Guy of Fertile, Minn., Mrs. Harold Welch [should be Welsh] and Mrs. Everett King of Des Moines. He is also survived by eight brothers and three sisters.

After the death of his wife he lived with his children. He was ill from heart trouble and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines on the 11th of September, having reached the age of 64 years, five months and six days.
