Funeral Services for William A. Weeks [should be Wier A. Weeks]
Slater, Aug. 13--Funeral services for William A. Weeks were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the home and 2:30 o'clock at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. E. R. Rorem.
Mrs. Bertha Nervig and Mrs. Will Cassell had charge of the many beautiful floral offerings.
The Ladies' Aid gave a sum of money to the missions in honor of his memory.
Homer Lewis sang "The Old Rugged Cross;" Mrs. Gurton Erickson and Miss Gladys Estrem sang two duets "Good Night Here but Good Morning Up There" and "God Will Take Care of You." The pall bearers were William Weeks of Slater, Herbert and Archie Reinertson of near Kelley and Raymond, Walter and Freddie Johnson of Madrid.
William A. Weeks [should be Wier A. Weeks] was born in Polk county south east of Slater, October 13, 1860, and died at his home August 9th, 1935, after brief illness caused by a stroke sometime ago. He was 74 years, 9 months and 27 days of age. He made his home in Polk county practically all of his life. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
His marriage to Miss Helen Nervig took place February 26th, 1886. Five children were born to this union.
Mr. Weeks was a member of the Bethlehem church and took an active part in the work. He was a devoted husband and father and had a large circle of friends.
He is survived by his wife and five children Mrs. Harvey Mickelson [should be Michaelson], Mrs. Randall Reinertson, Mrs. Carl Torgerson, Thomas and Howard Weeks, all of Slater, also a sister, Mrs. Gus Johnson of Madrid, two brothers, Tom Weeks of Madrid and Henry Weeks of Rapid City, S. D., and 17 grandchildren.
