THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 12, 1941, page 1, column 3. “LIFELONG RESIDENT PASSES ON. – Harvey A. Wood, 73, lifelong resident of this community passed away at his home about 7 o’clock on Sunday evening after a lingering illness. Mr. Wood, who was born in this community, spent his entire lifetime here with the exception of about 5 years spent in Oklahoma. Besides his widow, those surviving are one son, E. L. Wood, and one daughter, Mrs. Jim Stone of Nevada, and seven grandchildren. His aged mother, Mrs. Juliet Wood, 97, and four step sisters, Mrs. Anna King and Mrs. F. W. McClintock, Maxwell; Mrs. Wilson Mills of Kansas City and Mrs. C. W. Kirk, of Orland, Calif. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian Church, with the Rev. H. G. Darling in charge. Interment was made in the Maxwell Cemetery.”

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 20, 1941, page 1, column 3. "HARVEY A. WOOD. - Funeral services for Harvey A. Wood were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church of Christ. The rites were in charge of Rev. H. G. Darling, pastor, with Mrs. Ned Pearson at the piano. Mrs. J. B. Scott and Mrs. C. I. Kirk sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Going Down the Valley." The pallbearers were Wm. McNabb, Geo. Rupp, Chas. Ray, C. I. Kirk, Glen Scott and Frank Boitnott. The floral tokens were beautiful and profuse. The church was filled to capacity with relatives, old neighbors and friends who came to pay their last respects. Rev. Darling read the following obituary: "Harvey Aurlius Wood was born Febr. 29, 1868, and passed away Nov. 9, 1941, at the age of 73 years, nine months and nine days. He was united in marriage to Alice Hall on March 3, 1891. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary March 3 of this year. Mr. Wood's father, Jesse Wood, departed this life 36 years ago. His mother is still living and inspiring the whole Maxwell Community with her beauty of life and strong Christian character. One sister, Mrs. Ada Schouboe, preceded him in death, being called away exactly one year ago. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Mrs. J. E. Wood; four sisters, Mrs. Georgia King of Maxwell, Mrs. Etta Mills of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Fred McClintock of Maxwell and Mrs. Chas. Kirk of Orlando, California; his wife, Alice; one son, Ernest L. of Maxwell; and one daughter, Mrs. Leona Stone of Nevada. One son, Sidney, died some years ago. Sargent Glen D. Wood, of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., a grandson arrived on Thursday preceding the death of his grandfather. Mrs. Mary Carpenter, of Spokane, Washington, sister of Mrs. H. A. Wood, arrived too late to be in attendance at the last rites of her brother-in-law, the late H. A. Wood. He spent al but five years of his life in this community and his sunny outlook on life will be greatly missed by a great number of friends both in Maxwell and surrounding country.""
