Funeral Services for Mrs. McDaniels
Funeral services for Mrs. Mona McDaniel, 42, who died at Iowa sanitarium, Sunday morning, were held from Central Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband, Walter S. McDaniel, who passed away Nov. 1, 1931.
The service was in charge of her pastor, Rev. Jos. M. Kennedy, there were two songs by Mrs. A. L. Hale with Mrs. Armstrong at the organ and flowers, many and beautiful, were cared for by members of the Pythian Sisters, of whom she was a member.
The following sketch of her life was read during the service:
Mona Louise Fowler was born in Ames, Ia., on the 28th day of Dec. in 1892. The early years of her life were lived in Ames, then, in 1910, the family moved to Nevada, where her father, the late Frank N. Fowler, became county treasurer. Mona attended the local high school and graduated with the class of 1912. Following her graduation she worked in Nevada for two years as a bookkeeper and was then married on Sept. 23, 1914 to Walter Sherman McDaniel. She was happy in her home life and in the care of the three children that came to complete their home. The happy home life was broken by the illness and death of the husband and father, whose death occurred on Nov. 1, 1931.
The interest of Mrs. McDaniel extended in a normal ways to the activities of the community. She was a loyal and faithful member of the Central Presbyterian church and her family was encouraged to her to be active in their Religious life. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Pythian Sisters and also belonged to other local clubs. She had many friends and treasured their friendship as hers was treasured by them.
She will be greatly missed by her three children: Marjorie Louise, Robert Houston and Jeanette, and by her step-mother Mrs. Hattie Fowler and half-sister Dorothy Fowler as well as by her brothers, Albert Fowler of Lakeland, Fla., and Donald Fowler of Syracuse, N. Y. Other relatives and friends sorrow deeply because of her passing and extend their heartfelt sympathy to those in the home, now broken by the loss of a mother's care.
She passed suddenly, and quietly from this life on Sunday morning, June 23, at the age of 42 years. Death followed a protracted illness, but came as a sudden shock to those who had hopes for her immediate recovery.
