GILBERT MAN DIED MONDAY
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
Gilbert, March 5--L. T. Benn, 84, died at his home in Gilbert Monday afternoon and the funeral services are to be held Wednesday at 2:00 at the Congregational church in Gilbert with Rev. J. P. Himmell in charge. Burial will be in the Gilbert cemetery.
Mr. Benn had been ill for over a year but his condition had been serious for but three weeks. Heart complications caused death.
Leonard Tallman Benn was born at Marshall, in Henry county, July 30, 1850. He was united in marriage to Mary Flather of Tama, January 27, 1878.
The family moved to Story county twenty-seven years ago and located first on a farm two and a half miles southwest of Gilbert. There they lived for 10 years and 17 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Benn moved into Gilbert.
He leaves his wife and five children are Luther Benn of Chelsea, Mrs. E. S. Hand of Tama, Mrs. Fred Hand of Fairibault, Minn., and Reuben and Leon Benn of Gilbert.
[Note: Death certificate and grave marker give his first name as Lemard. Marriage record gives his wifes maiden name as Flathers.]
