Mrs. Ida Scott Died Here; Long Time Resident
The death of Mrs. Ida J. Scott, 75, Ames woman who passed away suddenly at Iowa sanitarium Thursday evening, followed an extended illness. Mrs. Scott had suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year ago from which she had never recovered.
Mrs. Scott had resided in Ames for nearly half a century, going there from the family home on a Milford township farm. For many years she lived at 622 Kellogg avenue, but had given up her residence in the past two or three years. At the time she was brought here four weeks ago, she was living at 522 Douglas avenue During her earlier years she had been very active in the work of the Ames Church of Christ.
She was married in Ames Feb. 11, 1880 to Andrew Scott who died Feb. 7, 1917. She is survived by five step-children, Frank Scott of Ames; John and Joe Scott of Parker, S. D., Will Scott of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. Carrie Mitten of Cedar Rapids; several grandchildren, living in Ames, Minnesota and South Dakota; two brothers, George Goldsmith of Seattle, Wash., and Kurt Goldsmith, living in Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stanstrom of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Artie Roberts of Hugoton, Kan.
