Last Rites Saturday For W. R. Rumbaugh
Funeral services were conducted at the Collins Methodist church on Saturday afternoon, May 26 at two o'clock by the Rev. Louis H. Joslin. Interment was made in the Evergreen Cemetery, Collins, Ia. Pianist, Mrs. W. R. Stone. Vocal solo, "The Lord's Prayer", by Mrs. Ronald Miller. Pallbearers were Dewey Kern, Loyd Holland, E. A. Ellingsen, Charles Carr, J. R. Armstrong, Henry Dodd. Flowers cared for by Mrs. Charles Carr and Mrs. N. H. Brinkman.
Obituary
William Raymond Rumbaugh, the second son of Albert and Elizabeth Rumbaugh was born at Point Pleasant, near Eldora, Ia., May 14, 1890 and passed away at the Veterans hospital, Des Moines, Ia., May 22, 1951, at the age of 61 years and eight days.
He was reared in Eldora and was graduated from the Eldora High school and later completed the course in Forestry at Iowa State college in 1916. He was a member of the firm at Pierce, Robinson & Rumbaugh landscape architects of Des Moines until World War I in which he was service overseas.
On April 1, 1920, he was united in marriage to Minnie D. Harmsen of Collins, Ia. They made their home on a farm near Collins where they have since resided, with the exception of a few months near Chicago. He was an active member of the Masonic Fraternity, the American Legion, the Eastern Star and the 40 & 8.
